I've used this scope to harvest a whitetail deer. Also for load development, though would prefer more magnification for target work, but I'm using it for hunting, so what the heck. In my neck of the woods, most shooting is inside of 30 yards, often at moving game, although there's an occasional 75-250 yard chance. I haven't yet shot with the dot on this sight, although I feel confident having used a 1.5-6 lighted reticle on a .22 at raccoons in the night in my past. I like this recticle(#4A Illuminated) and wish it to be available on the new 6500 series 1.25-8. I previously have used the 12 gauge shotgun as it was the only legal implement in my area. It was topped with a Weaver V4.5W with tapered post and cross. Until I used the recticle on this 4200, I was biased towards the post and cross(which hasn't been available for years).
